Our Sheffield facility is conveniently located between the M1 and Sheffield town centre. Awarded as Apprentice Employer of the Year 2019, the site employs 110 employees. Sheffield specialises in sensors, thermocouples, thermometers, transducers, transmitters, flowmeters and controllers. Our modern cell based manufacturing facilities are fully flexible for small and large batch runs, enabling us to provide short lead times even for customized products. The in-house manufacturing and testing is backed up by our own UKAS accredited laboratory for pressure, temperature, flow and electrical parameters. A team of field-based engineers also provide a full calibration, maintenance and repair service throughout Europe.


Successful candidate will be responsible for operation management of site and manufacturing operations to ensure a safe facility, zero harm and best in class standards of quality, delivery and cost. Deliver year on year growth or improvement for all key performance indicators. Lead and develop local team from management to shop floor employees and play an active role in support of the Business Unit, Division and Group.

Role Requirements

  • Delivering best in class safety performance – leading the objective of Zero Harm. Ensure effective implementation of the HS&E Committee, 5S programme and Safety Walks.
  • Taking responsibility for direction and management of the following functions; production, machine shop, maintenance, site, planning and purchasing.
  • Managing excellent customer performance in terms of ‘on time delivery’ and quality performance.
  • Embedding and continuous improvement of BE Lean, Supply chain excellence, a culture of year on year cost improvement (direct labour efficiency, overhead, inventory) through Profit Improvement Programme.
  • Overseeing SIOP process for development and implementation of an effective system to improve resource planning and delivery performance, improving forecast accuracy and factory efficiency.
  • The strict control of inventory levels to ensure budget targets are achieved and year on year improvement of stock turns.
  • Reviewing gross profit performance and playing an active role, together with other functional leaders, to develop and implement plans to improve and eliminate manufacturing variances.
  • Development of the purchasing and supply chain organization and delivery of budget PPV targets.
  • Development of the operations organisation to support delivery of the objectives of the function; drive high levels of accountability, ensuring strong performance management, skills development and succession planning
  • Developing an annual budget in line with Business Unit and Divisional requirements.
  • Ensuring that the entire Operations organization is active in supporting an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion culture, the TT Way and also that we strive to be a Sustainable business

Desirable Skills And Experience

  • University degree in engineering, operations or related field.
  • Proven experience in Operations Management in a manufacturing organization.
  • Proven experience in advanced manufacturing processes and techniques; including leading structured programmes to continuously improve performance.
  • Strong operational financial knowledge, resource planning and workforce planning.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills to effectively motivate.
  • Team player, receptive to ideas. Shares information and keeps key stakeholders informed.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, influencing and decision making skills
  • Proven experience leading management level employees.
  • Experience leading manufacturing operations in the UK.
