Due to our growth we are looking for a full-time Studio Photography and Lighting Assistant to join our fast-paced creative production Studio. You will be working Monday to Friday from 6am-2pm and every other Saturday from 8am-4pm, with a lieu day off in the week. This role is based full time at our Head Office in Tunbridge Wells.


  • Assist the Photography and Lighting Team Leader with photographic stage settings and equipment maintenance in our on-site photoshoot studio
  • Assist the Retouching team with the finishing touches to the product imagery before they are used across our E-commerce platforms, making sure the product is presented true to form and to the highest quality
  • Work closely with the Stylists and Retouchers to ensure the product is shot correctly following the correct lighting set-ups
  • When retouching; to ensure colour consistency across all images, matching digital to physical samples, and adjusting imagery from different cameras and settings
  • Take on board constructive comments and feedback on Photography, Lighting and Image correction
  • Follow daily guidance on task prioritisation and be capable of analysing what areas need more urgent cover – Photography/Lighting or Retouching
  • Help to create studio set-ups ready for high-quality product photography including all lighting and camera equipment
  • Assist our Photography and Lighting Team Leader in organising training for staff when improvements related to photography settings, lighting, styling photography angles or other pre-sets are required
  • Communicate workflow and discuss any issues with the Studio Team Leaders and Seniors
  • Collaborate with reviewing and updating the existing Styling/Retouching guides, working alongside the Styling and Retouching teams to maintain visual consistencies on the website, ensuring that all styling and photography is aligned with the Childrensalon vision
  • Maintain and request studio equipment and props when required
  • Keeping up to date with our in-house new techniques and workflows
  • Staying updated with the latest trends in e-commerce and photography industry
  • React quickly to emails/Slack requests and act where necessary
  • Cover the Photography and Lighting Team Leader tasks and shifts when necessary
  • Responsible for storing and handling studio equipment safely and avoiding any damage
  • Ad hoc Studio duties

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge in Photography and Studio Lighting
  • Working experience with photo shoots, photo shoot processes and image manipulation
  • Comfortable handling professional cameras and lighting equipment
  • Naturally creative with a good eye for colour and styling
  • Advanced Adobe Photoshop skills
  • Knowledge of retouching from raw images to e-commerce use with great skills of colour-management and colour-correction/matching
  • Be pro-active and have the ability to collaborate with the wider Studio Department bringing ideas and creative thinking to all projects
  • Open and communicative with a positive attitude to learn
  • Strong listening and questioning skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to multitask
  • Strong proficiency in Mac OS
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Teams
  • Good understanding of PMA (internal candidates)

Desirable Skills:

  • Interest in Fashion
  • Knowledge of 3D printing
  • Experience in fashion and within the luxury brands
  • Have experience of working with studio flashes
  • Background in accurate colour correction using physical and digital swatches
  • Good understanding of the requirements and pace of an e-commerce business
