Main duties of the job
The Head of Equality and Human Rights drives the Health Boards ambition to improve health and deliver excellent care by placing equality, diversity and inclusion at the heart of everything we do. As the Health Boards primary strategic equality and human rights advisor, this is a senior role with significant freedom to act with Health Board wide responsibility that contributes significantly to the delivery of the organisations’ strategic goals.
The post holder ensures effective and inclusive engagement of staff, service users, patient representatives, carers, and community leaders together with partner organisations. The post holder liaises with the Welsh Government, NHS Wales, regulators and other national (Wales and UK) representative and policy making bodies. The post holder is responsible for developing a highly specialist strategy for equality and human rights, driving implementation and ensuring that performance targets are met by influencing the development of strategy, service plans and associated business plans.
The post holder leads and manages the Corporate Equality Team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
