This Job Listing is about National Trust in Killerton,England,UnitedKingdom 2022
About the job
Here at the National Trust, we care for and provide access to more land and buildings in England, Wales and Northern Ireland than any other private landowner. In the South West this includes Grade I listed buildings, National Parks and important areas of the coast. Small wonder, then, that effective planning and land management is at the heart of everything that we do.
Our Planning Team has an important role to play in promoting an integrated approach to sustainable development. It’s a busy and exciting time to join, with challenges ranging from major infrastructure projects to the sensitive development of our own properties to sustain their future, tackle climate change and enable them to welcome everyone. This is a great opportunity to work on varied projects in beautiful and historic places, expanding your knowledge and experience across policy and development management.
Flexible location: we have offices at Killerton (Devon) and Lanhydrock (Cornwall)
The role is offered on a full time (fixed term) basis; the National Trust will consider applications for flexible working
Provisional interview dates: Monday 28th November at Killerton South West Regional Office
What it’s like to work here
You’ll support the work of the Planning Advisers in the South West. You’ll have the flexibility to work from home, at our offices and properties. Some travel is required for meetings and site visits, often to rural places.
You’ll be working alongside a range of specialists including archaeologists, ecologists and curators. You’ll support and collaborate with colleagues in the regional team and, importantly, at many of our properties. You’ll engage with officers at local planning authorities and with statutory consultees including Historic England. You’ll also join regular meetings/teleconferences with Planning Advisers across the National Trust, where you’ll benefit from knowledge sharing and opportunities for training and CPD.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll have the opportunity to engage with a wide range of planning issues with a particular focus on the conservation of heritage, ecology and protected landscapes. Under the guidance of our Planning Advisers, you’ll assist with planning matters across our regional portfolio of properties, advising on our development proposals. You’ll also monitor and respond to external planning applications, and consultations on local and neighbourhood plans.
