We are currently recruiting for a Officer Manager to work within an Institute for Health Research based in Central London.

  • Location: Kings Road (hybrid-working – 2 days in the office)
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 35hrs
  • Pay Rate: £22.42 per hour
  • Start Date: October 2022
  • Duration: End of March 2023

The role will be responsible for dealing proactively and positively with people at all levels within research funding, Medical Research, life sciences and other relevant sectors of the public and other infrastructures. You will also work closely with colleagues across several departments as well as the wider functions, managing and overseeing the projects and the teams.

The post holder will facilitate the growth of the collaboration as well as contributing to the development and expansion of the wider activities.

  • Lead on projects and communications activities
  • Support the development of the national strategic and operational plans.
  • Provide reports and analysis on the volume, balance and pipeline of research portfolios.
  • Performance monitoring (including planning and problem solving)
  • Input in the review of end of year reports and plans
  • Liaison and co-ordination of activities across a number of projects and initiatives
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with people at all levels
  • Promote and represent the project nationally and internationally, attending stakeholder conferences and meetings where appropriate
  • Analyse and present data at meetings
  • Financial management
  • Ensuring that resources are appropriately and efficiently managed
  • Maintain responsibility for own professional development by keeping up to date with relevant policy and key professional issues.
  • Coordinate opportunities to strengthen networks


  • Experience or knowledge in clinical trails/clinical research
  • Experience and ability to participate constructively in meetings and decision making processes.
  • Experience of inputting into the development of policies, procedures and standards.
  • Demonstrable experience of direct line management of staff.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills and the ability to convey complex and tailored information to a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage budgets
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with people at all levels
  • Ability to work with minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Ability to take initiative, use sound judgement, and make decisions within general guidelines
  • Good IT skills, particularly in the use of MS Office and Google suite applications
